New faces on our Governing Committee

Our Annual General Meeting on Sunday 24 April welcomed two new members to our managing Committee.

Helen Hutton and Jacqui Hunter are the latest members on our Committee, as confirmed by our AGM.

The meeting in the Unley Town Hall was also a celebration of the decision made a year earlier to re-brand the Association with the simple message: "Love Your Park Lands".

President Shane Sody reported to members how their Association had been carrying out each of APA’s four activity streams:

What we do: Explore, Inspire, Protect and Restore

He also paid tribute to outgoing Committee members Maggie Fletcher and Ian Milroy.

Mr Sody told the meeting that the re-branding and the launch last year of APA's green heart-shaped logo had led to a membership boom, with the number of members jumping 40% over the past 12 months, and growth in traffic to this website almost doubling.

The meeting decided to extend a four-year freeze on membership fees, for at least another year, keeping the single membership rate at only $30 (concession $15) and the family rate at $40 (concession $30).

The AGM also approved a change to membership rules so that each annual membership payment lasts 12 months from the date of payment, rather than being tied to the end of a financial year.

The guest speaker was Jules Schiller from 891 ABC Adelaide, who (among other things) recounted the various species of moss he'd found in your Adelaide Park Lands and invited APA members to join the Adelaide Moss Appreciation Society!
