"World's Only" - behind the scenes
The documentary “World’s Only” was premiered at a meeting of Park Ambassadors on Monday 6 November, and is now available here, as well as on our Facebook page, and on our YouTube channel.
The video was made possible after securing the services of a University of Adelaide Ph D candidate, Yanyan Hong. Ms Hong is writing a thesis on “contemporary uses of media in the facilitation of positive social changes” in the University’s School of Humanities.
Ms Hong is an accomplished English-Chinese translator (among other credits, she’s translated and reviewed more than 600 published TED Talks); and has three published articles in the journals Global Media and China, the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies; and China Media Research.
As part of her University duties, Yanyan completed a 60-day internship with the Adelaide Park Lands Association, assisting us with both filming and editing “World’s Only”, using the University’s video equipment and editing software.
This video features stunning imagery of your Park Lands, animations, TV News reports, historical imagery, comparisons with other world Parks, and interviews with people around the world about the significance of your Park Lands.
“World’s Only” is intended to be relevant for years to come, especially when any part of your Park Lands might come under any future attack, as has occurred so often in the recent past.
Video snippets within the documentary have come from a variety of sources (as acknowledged in the video final credits) but special mention should be made of contributions from:
Greg Coote, who took the stunning close-ups of the Chequered Copper Butterfly;
Andrejs Jaudzems, (aka Instagram’s @horsesofnorthadelaide) who took the beautiful dawn shots of grassland and horses in Park 6); and
Peter Sansom, who compiled the animated sequence showing the extent of Park Lands losses over the years.
The presenter-narrator, Fiona Delaine, is an Adelaide-based actor, singer, and voice-over artist, and Fringe performer.
We hope you will enjoy the video and share it with your friends and colleagues, to help us grow the number of people who “Love Your Park Lands.”
