Farewell to South-West City Community Association

The South West City Community Association (SWCCA) will be winding up at the end of December after 11 years of dedicated service to the residents of Adelaide’s south western quadrant.

The SWCCA has made a valuable contribution to the City of Adelaide, and to your Park Lands, representing the community’s voice and working to make possible a number of community programs and activities, including the Walyu Yarta Community Garden, “Know Your City” Walks, community meetings and forums to enable residents to meet election candidates.

The south-western part of your Adelaide Park Lands

In recent years, SWCCA regular newsletters, distributed in the City’s south-west, have always included information about events in your Adelaide Park Lands, including our Guided Walks.

In particular, APA would like to acknowledge Marjon Martin, who (along with husband Greg Martin) has been one of the driving forces behind the SWCC, most recently as its Secretary. Marjon also served for several years as our Park Ambassador for Golden Wattle Park / Mirnu Wirra (Park 21 West) and also led Guided Walks through Whitmore Square / Iparrityi.

Marjon and the SWCCA were of great assistance earlier in 2023 during a three-month campaign to save Golden Wattle Park / Mirnu Wirra (Park 21 West) from the threat of an enormous new police compound.

There is still a Facebook group continuing for SW City residents and businesses to share “things that may interest residents of Adelaide Southwest and more generally.”
