Hiring a sports field or three
Do you know a sporting club, school, or community organisation that would like to hire a sports field in your Adelaide Park Lands on a short term basis?
The City of Adelaide is seeking expressions of interest to hire each of the various sports fields in Victoria Park / Pakapakanthi (Park 16) during 2024-25.
The areas available for hire, starting from April 2024. The rectangular premium” sport field, marked in red; the criterium track marked in blue, and four southern sports fields outlined in purple. Toilets and change facilities are indicated by the red star.
The hiring agreements can range from a minimum of one season (at least 10 weekly sessions over six months) to a maximum of 12 months, meaning a minimum of 20 weekly sessions over both winter and summer 2024-25.
The City Council says its main aim is to “activate Victoria Park / Pakapakanthi with sporting activities.”

It intends to give priority to:
“community sporting activities” rather than “elite sporting activities” or any “for-profit businesses”;
junior participants aged under 13;
organisations who currently do not have any lease/licence in your Park Lands; and
people from underrepresented groups, such as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders, women/girls, people on low incomes, newly arrived migrants and refugees, international students, and people with disabilities.
The rectangular “Premium” sports field, in front of the 1882 heritage grandstand, has previously been used for gridiron/American football.
Expressions of interest must be lodged no later than 5pm on Wednesday 20 December 2023.

The City Council says that all submissions will be reviewed and allocations confirmed by the end of January 2024, with hiring periods to commence from April 2024.
