My hyper-realistic pencil drawing portrays two bottle caps forming a clam, with a pearl nestled inside.

This piece symbolises resilience and beauty emerging from struggle. Just as a pearl is formed through an oyster’s response to irritation, the artwork speaks to the transformative power of perseverance.

The bottle caps, often associated with human impact on nature, represent sharpness and hardship, while the pearl reflects hope and grace. The Adelaide Park Lands are a living metaphor for this balance — spaces where natural beauty thrives despite urban encroachment.

Through this work, I hope to inspire viewers to reflect on the Park Lands not just as a place of beauty but as a symbol of nature’s resilience.

As someone living with invisible disabilities, I find inspiration in these landscapes, which mirror the strength and transformation found in both nature and the human spirit. I hope it inspires you too.
