Thousands marched for Park Lands

Thousands gathered in Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga today before joining the Stop the Chop - March for Your Park Lands to Victoria Park/ Pakapakanthi sending clear message to the State Government: stop carving up our Park Lands.

From Tarntanyangga, the march moved through the city to Pakapakanthi, two important parts of the Adelaide Park Lands and Kaurna Country.

Thank you to everyone who marched, volunteered, organised, spoke, performed and helped make the day possible.

A special thank you to Kaurna Elder Janette Milera for the Welcome to Country, and to our speakers Rob Simms MLC, Mij Tanith, Sarah Ladewig-Jones, John Schumann, Jack Batty MP, Michael O’Brien, Cr Kieran Snape, Cr Patrick Maher, Senator Sarah Hanson-Young and Adelaide Park Lands Association President Mat Monti.

And thank you to the many people working behind the scenes, our marshals, photographers, first aiders, drummers, media and logistics, volunteers and the Gum Leaf Guild.

Most of all, thank you to the thousands of people who turned up.

Your Park Lands belong to everyone. They are not vacant land waiting for the next project, development or major corporate event.

Thanks to Dave Nettle, Cate Paull, Eve Lewk, Danny McCracken, Mat Monti, Keiren Snape, Elizabeth Ho and Serena Findley for sharing their images of the day.
