“Each one a world” explores the imagery and significance of grass.
Taking its form from the multi layered ecology of a meadow, these monoprints of are arranged and layered in a fluid constellation.
The prints are made directly from the grass itself, and show all three stages of the process. While developing this work I spent a lot of time in the Pakapakanthi Grasslands area observing the native grasslands, although the source material grasses I collected are a mixture of invasive and native species.
Originally shown at Carrick Hill, in 2024 clusters of prints were arranged over digitally printed wallpaper. For the Park Lands Art Prize I have reconfigured their arrangement onto a smaller mounted board.
Grass is both singular and plural, like we are each alone and yet together. It can inspire us to see ourselves as a humble part of an interconnected world.
