The scene in the painting is a vantage point from Mount Lofty that overlooks the Adelaide Park Lands on the east side of the city. The Park Lands are integral to the beauty of Adelaide, and echoes for me the natural beauty that I encountered in the Cleland National Park while walking up to the Mount Lofty Summit. The Park Lands bring this splendour into the city. The painting depicts the light as the sun dips just below the horizon and casts a warm glow.
