"Fission Fusion" - Harriet Geater-Johnson
"Fission Fusion" - Harriet Geater-Johnson
This work explores the hierarchal conflict within a kangaroo mob.
Their combative forms suggestive of fission-fusion, the fluid social structure of their species, where individuals come together and separate in response to shifting social dynamics within the mob.
Through this work, I explore the conflict that defines kangaroo society, reflecting broader themes of coexistence and survival amongst their own and due to human impact.
Inspired by the kangaroos within the Adelaide Park Lands, this piece celebrates their resilience within an increasingly urban landscape.
The surface reminiscent of the land they inhabit.
This work considers the ever-changing relationship between nature and human expansion.
