"Deep Rest" - OAKEY
I spend countless hours in the Park Lands of Tarntanya/Adelaide, finding both solace and creative inspiration. The Parks feel like a warm hug surrounding the cityscape, providing a living refuge for plants, animals, and people.
Deep Rest is a 1:1 cast of my form, created using fallen paperbark collected from mature Melaleuca quinquenervia trees in the Park Lands and around my home. The work was inspired by time spent amongst paperbarks in both the forests of NSW and the Adelaide Park Lands - highlighting the deep interconnectedness of life forms across time and place.
Inspired by nature's embrace and designed to encourage deep connection, Deep Rest offers a space for stillness. This sculptural installation invites viewers to reflect on their own relationship with Adelaide's urban sanctuaries.
Please note that the paperbark surrounding the form is installed on-site and will be adjusted to match the dimensions stated in the terms and conditions.
