Seven candidates : One City Council vacancy

Seven candidates are vying to fill a single casual vacancy on the City Council.

The vacancy is for an "Area Councillor" i.e. someone to represent the entire City - not just a single ward.

The vacancy was caused by the recent resignation of Robert Simms, who is now in State Parliament.

If you are entitled to vote in the election (as a resident or business owner in ether the City or in North Adelaide) then you will receive a ballot paper in the mail next month. The Electoral Commission will also send you a short "profile" prepared by each candidate.

Ballot papers will be sent out from the Electoral Commission from 6 July to 12 July 2021

We are seeking answers from each of the seven candidates about their attitudes towards the Adelaide Park Lands. We will publish their responses on social media on Wednesday 7 July, and in our mid-July newsletter.

In the meantime, all candidates have been invited to participate in a “Candidates Forum”, hosted by Friends and Residents of North Adelaide. Tuesday 29 June, 6.00pm

A second candidates forum is scheduled for the following evening: Wednesday 30 June, 5.00pm to 7.00pm at the South West Community Centre, 22 Stamford Court in the City. Attend in person or online. To register online please send an email to swcityca@gmail.com by midday 30 June

We'll report on those forums in our next newsletter, on 1 July.
