Art Prize: Why Do They Do It?

Entries have been coming in, steadily, over the past few weeks, for the $50,000 Adelaide Park Lands Art Prize, 2023.

The motto for our Art Prize competition is “Inspire”. We hope and expect that artists, inspired by your Adelaide Park Lands, will create artistic works that inspire others.

It would not be possible to hold the biennial Adelaide Park Lands Art Prize without the generous support of many sponsors and donors.

Our largest single sponsor is the City of Adelaide, with a $15,000 donation through Kadaltilla / Park Lands Authority.

Other major sponsors include the Lord Mayor, Sandy Verschoor, and the Deputy Chair of Kadatilla, Kirsteen Mackay.

But many other sponsors also offer significant contributions to make the Adelaide Park Lands Art Prize the success that it has become: now the equal second-richest Art Prize in South Australia.

Why do the donors and sponsors do it? We asked one of our longer-term donors, Hero Weston.

Other sponsors include:

“Restore”

  • Andreyev Foundation

  • Morgans Financial

“Protect”

  • David and Emma Robinson

  • Royal Adelaide Show

“Explore”

  • St Aloysius College

  • David Donaldson

  • Diana Jaquillard
