It could be August 2023 before you are allowed to return to Elder Park in your Adelaide Park Lands.
During May, fences were erected around the popular spot, and irrigation pipes delivered.
Extensive digging has been underway in recent days.
Signage makes clear that the work is to improve irrigation for Elder Park, and to replace the turf.
However the signs don’t make clear how long the work is likely to continue.
A City of Adelaide spokesman told us that:
“the irrigation component will likely be completed in the next two weeks [i.e. by about 9 June] after which the turf replacement will occur. The fencing will remain in place for the turfing component to give the turf the best chance to establish.
“It is anticipated that the fence will remain in place until approximately August but will be removed earlier if the weather is favourable and the turf establishes sooner.”
