How's the weather?

‘Global boiling’ is the startling term which the UN secretary general, António Guterres, used to describe the era we’re now living in.

Last month was the hottest July on record globally, with the northern hemisphere experiencing a summer marked with heatwaves and wildfires.

Open, Green, Public spaces – like your Adelaide Park Lands – are an important piece of the puzzle in the battle against climate change.

Meanwhile, back home, we’ve been having some interesting weather conditions of our own, although at the cooler end of the scale.

This included a pea-souper fog shrouding the city, which caused airport chaos, a ginormous, pink-tinged rainbow one dusk, downpours – and ultra-early hints of spring.

Park lovers have been busy capturing such sights, and here we share some of their images of your Park Lands.

“Just a tad foggy for parkrun this morning,” writes The Spare Minute Runner in Lefevre Park / Nantu Wama (Park 6).

Joggers did a ‘onesie run’ for Nantu Wama parkrun’s first birthday amid the fog. Photo: Nantu Wama parkrun.

“The city of Adelaide engulfed in fog,” writes Oz Blues.

"Something that’s been on my bucket list for some time has been to go into Elder Park [Park 26] on a foggy morning and photograph the city," writes Fran Mussared. "There’s a calming aesthetic and sense of peace in the fog."

According to New Scientist, rainbows with a red or pink hue are "ordinary rainbows that happen to occur when the sun is low in the sky and appear redder than when it is higher up".

In early August, Dear Little Mango snapped these pretty blossom pics (above and below) at Princess Elizabeth Playground in Mirnu Wirra (Park 21 West).
